Growing Up Haunted

Growing up, people would say, “You just have a very wild imagination”… especially the nonbelievers. But If I see a shadow crawling on the wall, is it my imagination getting the best of me? So what is this strange sound I’m hearing or what is this figure standing before me? Am I dreaming? As a small child you don’t try to explain these things, you just know they’re there. As you get older it begins to get scary, sometimes terrifying to accept you’re not alone. Then as an adult acceptance sets in and you learn to co-exist.

Even though my parents really didn’t believe in anything related to ghosts my grandparents did and my other siblings did. My parents never shut it down though and that certainly allowed me to explore or investigate anything I was interested in.

My first ghostly encounter, which I will tell all about in another post, was when I was about 5 years old at my grandparents home in Lynchburg Virginia. Their house was haunted by several spirits over the years but a little girl they called Pixie was a fulltime resident.

My experiences have happened in my own home or my family’s home to famous haunted sites and old ghost towns and many other places.
