GRAVITY HILL

GRAVITY HILL – FINDING THE TRUTH – Have you ever experienced a Gravity Hill? Tell me about it!

There are hundreds of known gravity hill locations around the world. I’ve been to a few and in fact experienced the sensation of moving up hill while my car was in neutral. I find these areas and their explanations fascinating.

Optical Illusions
According to some, Gravity Hill is an area where the surroundings have created the optical illusion that a slight downhill slope appears to be an actual uphill slope. So those who venture there and put their cars in neutral will crawl down hill but appear to be going up. An obstructed horizon makes it difficult to judge the slopes surface and there is no reliable reference to tell the direction you’re going. Our senses can also be fooled by either man-made or natural optical illusions.

See… that was boring, now lets get to the more interesting ideas behind “Gravity Hill”. The reasons as to what actually causes your car to move range from vortexes in the area to stories of ghosts moving your car — depending what hill you are visiting.

Magnatism Activity

Some Gravity Hills are places where gravity seems to be warped and our perceptions of what is up, down, straight and/ or crooked is confused by what some say are powerful gravitational anomalies and dizzying magnetic vortexes in the area. This phenomena has been reported by hundreds and hundreds of visitors.

Although it’s well known that gravity isn’t the same everywhere on Earth, it has not been scientifically proven anywhere that gravity doesn’t act the way it’s suppose to act — but once again — this doesn’t prove that these areas can’t exist.

Paranormal Activity

There are many reports of Gravity Hills with hauntings surrounding them. The stories are similar — There was a car accident, the driver and passengers were killed and now the ghosts push you back up the hill to prevent you from suffering their fate. Some stories even say to put flower on the trunk of your car and when you reach the top of the hill get out and you’ll find handprints in the powder.

MY EXPERIENCE
Years ago some friends and I researched these “Gravity Hills” and went on the quest to experience it ourselves. There was no known story of hauntings in the area but let me tell you — the place didn’t need to be haunted — it was creepy enough.

We went out to __ Californina around midnight one evening, as usual, I brought my sage and a white candle to prevent anything coming back with us! I was really uneasy when we arrived in the area. The road became only two lanes, the grass grew tall with abandoned buildings sporadically laid out with old run down farming equipment and beat up cars littering the grounds. We drove over the hill the first time by accident and came to a mortuary and cemetary – by this time I’m wondering if it can get any creepier than this. We decided to stop the car and review our directions. I grew nervous and started thinking of stories like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and of course that’s when I saw a man standing on the porch of the mortuary watching us. I was the only one in the car who noticed him, everyone else was more interested in the cemetary. When I turned away from the man to also look at the cemetary I pointed out that he was watching us and we should move on but when we looked back at the mortuary… he was gone.

We turn around once we reviewed our map and realize we past the hill. We drove over the hill again and turned around. Now it was time to put the hill to the test. We made our way back to the top of the hill. We drove down and at the bottom of the hill put the car in neutral. A small moment goes by and suddenly we begin to move backwards up hill! It was a very weird sensation to think we were moving up hill when everything in your body tells you that you aren’t suppose to be.

I’ve never been back to this hill since.
